Guided by the Spirit of Love

Oh, how glorious it is to have something to lead you, something to guide you, something to direct you mentally and spiritually with the spirit of Love and humane tendencies for the benefit of all humanity and for the Love of the Almighty!

But as I say, this Love, when it all shall have been established, in any person and brought to fruition, takes on more of a humane or humanitarian tendency and more love for humanity generally than what they could dare accumulate by themselves individually with all of their selfish prejudices! It is a matter of impossibility to produce it, unless you get it from the Infinite, and when the Love of God is developed in you – then you have it from the Infinite, for it is God’s Love that so loved the world so that He gave His only Begotten Son so that the world might be saved through Him!

Can you not see the Mystery? When this is established effectively, the Son of God is within you as the Redeemer and the Savior of others, consciously or unconsciously to you. He is there as a Savior for humanity! Can you not see the mystery? It may be unconscious to you and He may be lying dormant apparently, but when this recognition shall have been actually established you will have an ambition to try to unite others together with you, to give them a chance to enjoy what you are enjoying!

You have a desire that they may enjoy what you are enjoying and come into possession of their rightful inheritance, for you, as heirs and joint heirs together with the Christ, will visualize the Perfect Picture so vividly until you yourselves will materialize it and by nature in consciousness you will eventually produce it and present it to others in the act of bringing about the Universal Brother!

I need not say more! I believe I have said enough to stir up your pure minds, but I will speak in deeds and in actions more effectively than what I can Personally tell you, for this dining room and other dining rooms according to My own design, I put forth into expression as a slight sketch and a reflection of a percent of a fraction of a grain of a percent of a fraction of a grain of what I will do for all mankind!

Feed Them and Feed Them and Feed Them. This Love Transcends All Creation and Your Fondest Imagination

As I said of a very recent date, even when you serve in the Banquet Hall that has been set apart for those who are consecrated, self-denied and living a pure and wholesome life, I have said, help yourselves – help yourself – and if you do not get as much as you want or can eat at the first service of the first courses going around the first time, if there is something else you desire, ask for it and it will be passed the second time.

I know this is something like presenting a Body, but I did say, “Present your bodies as living sacrifices, wholly, which is your reasonable service.”

Therefore, present your all and all on the sacrifice of God and be not conformed to this world but trust God for the whole thing.

Therefore, when anything is passed around and if it is not enough apparently – if you abide by the rule you will not take more than you can eat and you will not leave anything on your plate, and you will not take anything away – and you will not take a whole lot of different pieces at once when it goes around. You will serve decently and in order, and unselfishly, and if you do not have enough you will ask for more and it will be passed around to you.

“He that puts his trust in Me shall never be confounded.”

Do Not Get Mad, But Praise God

During the Holy Communion a sister stated that while working on her position, her madam said that she would not allow anyone to work for her who not of her complexion, whereupon she (the sister) resented the fact and reprimanded her madam. Later on, she stated, a condition came on her and she thought she was being punished for what she had said, for she felt as if she was passing out, and after calling upon Father, she received her deliverance, for which she thanked Him.

Following this testimony, Father arose to explain the mystery of getting resentful and angry.

Father Divine: Peace, Everyone! I am picking up drop stitches and catching up drop thoughts that may be deemed of others that are not considered. When the last speaker mentioned saying something to the person, that said she would not allow anyone to work for her that was not of her complexion, or words to that effect, I thought to say, as she felt she was punished for what she said, she may not have been punished for what she said, but may have been punished for getting resentful or angry.

Your bodies are the temples of the living God and God has said:

“I will walk in them and dwell in them.”

Therefore, your bodies are not for anger and especially not for that which is called madness! I have often illustrated, matters not what anyone does to you, if they would kill some of your family for not anything in the world, but for maliciousness, if you get angry, you will pay for it! Not because you could have said more had you not got resentful, because she she should have known more than what you told her and she did not know it, so someone should have told her – much more that what you told her; but they should not have been angry and resentful and antagonistic and malicious, with a malicious mind, for such an expression in the act of sowing seeds of antagonism, discord and maliciousness will return to the one from whence the seeds were sown!

So, that is what I wanted to say. So do not feel condemned because of what you said, but feel condemned or repent for the resentment and the anger and the quick-to-fly-up and a desire, if you could have, to do something to her. But anyway, whensoever you get angry, it is not detrimental when you have a right to tell everybody the way of life and the way of death if you can show them what will bring life and what will bring death! Prejudice and division will not only bring death, but destruction, and all had just as well know it and it is better for them to know it than for them not to know it and allow death and destruction to come to them when it could be avoided by knowing it and turning from the thing that is detrimental and destructive!

Letters to Father and Mother Divine

Gang warfare quelled in West Philadelphia through influence of Father Divine in activities at Unity Mission Church

November 9, 1977

Peace Father and Mother Dear,

In the Scripture after much turbulence between peoples it states that the land had rest for many years. I want to thank You for giving the “Turf” rest in West Philadelphia. For many years this area has been terrorized with gangs fighting over their land or “Turf” as they call it.

The Unity Mission Church at 41st and Westminster Ave. (pict. above) was the dividing line of the “Turf”. If a gang crossed that line there was open warfare. During those years from 1966 to 1976 we saw many young boys killed, knifed, shot and wounded.

With the entering into the second Century of our Nationhood and the celebration of the Bicentennial things began to quiet down on the “Turf” of the “Western Front” in West Philadelphia. There has not been any gang wars since then. I feel this is because of You Father and Mother dear. For many years the gymnasium at the Unity Mission Church was open gratis to all the children in the area, plus the P.A.L. and Cadet Corps. groups who traveled to the area and were supervised by your own virtuous followers who cared for the youth.
