Stone Ridge Extension (The Promised Land)
A delicious Banquet was spread before the LORD and dear Savior, FATHER DIVINE, and His Host of Angels in the early afternoon of October 6th at the Stone Ridge Extension.
At the conclusion of the reading of one of FATHER'S inspiring lectures from a recent issue of The New Day, FATHER rose to further stress and follow up the subject treated in the Message which might be termed to be "The Messenger of Rest versus the messenger of unrest."
Thank YOU, FATHER, for this great enlightenment to our souls.

PEACE EVERYONE! That Message as conveyed, it is enough said, speaking of that of which you all should consider -- the Messenger of Rest that will bring you sweet Messages of Love. The Messenger of Rest, of which I so vividly stressed, will bring you consolation when you are disconsolate, will bring you Peace, will bring you pleasure.
Truly might I have said in the Message as given, even though it was not according to the original composition transmitted:
'Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on your sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy and whispers of love.'
If you are not careful, you will find yourself on the side of the messenger of
unrest and ignorant pride, that one that will tell you things that will disturb
you, that one that will express messages of hate, dissension, discord, confusion
and disappointment and failure. That messenger of unrest and ignorant pride will
dictate to you just what you should do and where you should go and what you should
say. That messenger of unrest and ignorant pride has come in bodies. That messenger
has come in bodies, although he was in the beginning apparently as being termed
invisible, coming as a spirit or mind even to Jesus, the Son of GOD.
But that messenger, as I said in the Message read just before this one, that messenger who came as a tempter to CHRIST, the Son of GOD, coming at the time of Jesus' being hungry apparently, for something that was apparently needful for the sustenance of the body -- apparently Jesus was in need of something at that particular instant in that particular instance -- as He came, even so the tempter came at the time Jesus was apparently in need of something for the sustenance of the body.
'Command these stones to be made bread that Thou mayest eat.'
The tempter, which was mortality's version, came to Jesus as though He was a
person, and tempted Jesus as the first born among many brethren, that others
might see the way the tempter would come, and know how to overcome him. As the
tempter had tempted Jesus on several occasions invisibly, as it may be termed,
then the same tempter came in the bodies of the children of men, bringing to
them such messages of unrest and ignorant pride as the tempter would naturally
bring.
In the Message just read I conveyed how the Sweet Messenger of Rest would bring to you
'Echoes of Mercy and whispers of Love,'
but how the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride would bring to you all discontentment
and dissension, dissatisfaction, disappointment and failure -- would bring to
you every negative thought. The messenger of unrest and ignorant pride will tell
you GOD does not love you anyway. The messenger of unrest and ignorant pride
will always bring some message of discord to you, something to cause you to doubt
the reality of Love as exemplified, something to cause you to consider the Love
of GOD to you is not a reality. "GOD does not love me anyway; I am always
persecuted; I am always criticized; I am always accused."
These are the words the messenger of ignorant pride will tell you, and many other
such words of information to bring negation in your system by causing you to
think negative thoughts concerning the mystery.
But how glorious it is to accept of the Messenger of Rest, the Messenger that will bring to you Sweet Messages of Love, telling you of the Love of your GOD, telling you of the Love of GOD that has actually enveloped the world; telling you of the Love of GOD so firm and so full and so free, filling all space and absent from none, causing even those of whom would hate you to love you, for they must be filled with the Love of GOD.
Now, that is what the Messenger of Rest will tell you. But the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, the messenger to the extreme reverse of that Messenger of Rest, of which is the Messenger of GOD . . . that messenger to the extreme reverse, of which is the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, will tell you continually things that will cause you to doubt ME; things that will cause you to have disappointment; cause you to have failure; cause you to be discordant in spirit and in mind; cause you to be perturbed and disturbed in your heart and in your mind. That messenger of unrest and ignorant pride is to the extreme reverse of that Messenger of Rest, the Messenger of your GOD.
Then I say, it is a privilege to live in the Actual Presence of GOD, for you have long since been in the presence of the "other fellow" and in the atmosphere of such messages that the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride is bringing. That messenger of unrest and ignorant pride brings such messages that will cause dissension, that will cause discords, that will cause disappointment, that will cause failure, that will cause sickness, that will cause diseases, that will cause affliction, and that will cause doubts and fears. All of such will come through and by that messenger of unrest and ignorant pride. That messenger has more bodies to function in than that of GOD, in a way of speaking. Oh, it is something to consider!
The worst enemy you have is that of your own household. The one that is in your bodies, your own mind, your own ideas and your own opinions, of which will be the expression of the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, if you are living in selfishness and will in self abide! Will tell you many things that will cause you to be disturbed and keep you unhappy because of the lack of the recognition of GOD'S Actual Presence, and because of the lack of the full consecration, sacrifice and self-denial to and for your Savior, the Redeemer and Savior of all mankind. But if you would but consider the Messenger of Rest and would request that Messenger of Rest to return with the spirit of sincerity, and relax your conscious mentality and be conscientious in all of your requests and all of your assertions, the very Spirit of My Presence would, in answer to your request, return the Messenger of Rest.
This was not said in vain by composition, although it may have been spoken as an inspiration through the ignorant. But the Message still remains and I stress the same:
'Return, o Holy Dove, return, Sweet Messenger of Rest . . .'
I heard them say
'I hate that sin that made me mourn, and drove Thee from my breast.'
It was not said in vain! It was not said in vain; it was not merely an expression
as an assertion, as a motto for consideration; neither merely as a composition
to be sung as we are daily singing; but as a Message to the ones of those who
were concerned, that the Messenger of Rest might in reality return, no longer
remaining away from the presence of you, but that He might return and have free
access and no longer be driven or remain away from your presence.
But that Messenger will return with all sincerity, if you will permit him, and bring your body into subjection to him. If you notice closely, it has always been that way. When the vibrations of the Spirit are high, when the vibration is in expression and in evidence in your bodies or past experience, there is a time you will be tempted.
When Jesus was tempted, the vibrations had been high, but the vibrations were lowered by the physical necessity of life being apparently lacking. After the vibrations are high at times, by your thoughts dropping to the material things of life, the vibrations may apparently lower themselves in expression and the tempter may come forth into consideration; but if you are substantiated in faith and unshaken in confidence, you will have the same faith at the time of the temptation as you had when you were not tempted and when you were in the fullness of the Spiritual vibrations.
The vibrations of the Spirit come to bring you this Message of Love and to substantiate you in faith that you might be unshaken in confidence when the tempter comes. That is the mystery.
After Jesus as a Person was baptized and the Holy Ghost descended, according to the Gospel, the tempter led Him up of the Spirit in the wilderness to be tempted of the "other fellow". The Holy Ghost descended and substantiated His conviction by the declaration the Holy Ghost was making as it was given to John in the Jordan:
'This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him.'
This substantiated assertion, as it was confirming the affirmation that had been
made by Jesus, it was essential for Him to be tempted to see if He would deviate
from His assertion and yield to the temptation and not stand firm to His assertion.
The tempter came because of the declaration of GOD and of man:
'This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased.'
It was essential for the tempter to come that the CHRIST in Jesus might overcome
him and prove to the world conclusively that man in GOD can overcome all of the
temptations that may come from and through and by the messenger of unrest and
ignorant pride; therefore you have a Sample and an Example to go by.
You can be substantiated in faith by what you have experienced and by what you have seen and heard. The tempter may come according to the mortal versions of men, but if you are substantiated in faith and unshaken in confidence, that which has been spoken in your consciousness will be re-spoken openly in your conscious mentality in words and in actions as well as it had been spoken subconsciously.
It is a privilege to realize that Messenger of Rest has truly come to abide. But if you do not recognize the Messenger of Rest and bring your bodies into subjection, the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride will tell you something; but if you bring your bodies into subjection effectively to the Messenger of Rest, the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride cannot tell you anything.
I have heard you say at times, a good many of you: "They cannot tell me anything. They just cannot tell me anything." Well, you are speaking of that unrest and ignorant pride, that messenger of which I have declared to be the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride. But you must be convinced to know the Messenger of Rest will abide with you and you must be converted and so substantiated in faith until you cannot be shaken; neither can you deviate by what the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride may tell you.
I mention this because every time an individual tells you something that is discouraging, any word that is discouraging, disappointing, or creates dissension or resentment or anger, that is a message from the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride. He will get in bodies and try to tell you something; tell you something to cause you to be disappointed; tell you something to cause you to resent something or somebody; tell you something to cause you to be doubtful or fearful.
Any of those messages that are coming from any direction, if they are coming in a way of expression that will cause dissension, disappointment or failure, these are the messages that are coming from the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, the messenger with whom you should not abide.
You called for that Messenger of Rest, for you know how good you felt when you lose sight of the world completely and did not hear that message from the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride; when you did not hear any message coming as a message of discord, a message of disappointment, a message of failure, a message of unbelief, neither a message that would cause doubting and fearing.
When you would not and did not hear such a message from the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, there and then with you the Messenger of Rest did abide, but when you began listening to that messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, you began to be doubtful and fearful and trembling for the powers of the adversary, when you began doubting and fearing and began trembling and thought within yourself, GOD did not love you, you thought others did not love you -- there and then you drove that sweet Messenger of Rest from your breast, yea, from your presence, of which you have loved so well.
Oh, it is something to consider! That Messenger of Rest, he causes you to feel happy. He frees you from doubts and fears. It lifts you where you had fallen. The Messenger of Rest is recording the sweet Message of Love, as said the composition, according to the Message given:
'Perfect submission, perfect delight,How glorious it will be when you get back to that place in consciousness where
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight.
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of Mercy and whispers of Love,'
you can be filled with this Love and there abide in your GOD and say with the
composer by inspiration:
'Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am now happy and blest;
I am filled with His Glory; I am watching
and waiting and I am living above;
I am filled with His Goodness;
I am lost in His Love.'
Aren't you glad!
By such a conscious conviction, by such a sense of feeling, you will be lifted from sickness and diseases, from all disappointment and failure, and GOD Himself will be in evidence and the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride can no longer even come, much less than abide! But the Messenger of Rest with us all, yea, with you, will abide, when you shall have brought your bodies, your minds and your hearts, your desires and all into subjection to your GOD.
Then I say,
'Bid Him welcome today; every door open wide;
For the Comforter has come to abide.'
The Comforter of which I AM now speaking I AM stressing continually, the Messenger
of Rest for each and every individual who will bring himself or herself into
subjection to the Fundamental, and live exactly according to My Teaching. But,
as I continue to say, that messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, if you are
not watchful, he will get in you and tell you the same thing and tell you to
tell someone else something that will cause them to be disappointed, cause them
to be a failure, cause them to be resentful, angry or create some dissension
in some way of expression. That is exactly what that messenger of unrest and
ignorant pride will tell you if you allow him to dictate to you.
He can dictate to you from the within or from the without; but if he speaks within he is the same one who speaks without in another person, dictating to you such dictations that cause disappointment, failure, unrest and dissension among you. Such a messenger in opposition to the Messenger of Rest, will continue if you will allow him to.
I need not say more; I believe I have said enough, even in the Message that was read, to stir up your pure minds along this line. Hence, from now, if you will to overcome undesirable conditions you cease to bear witness of the unrestful things. You will cease to carry news of dissension, disappointment and failure. You will cease to bear witness of those things that are undesirable, negative and conflicting; for such come from the messenger of unrest and ignorant pride, who will create dissension and cause you to be a failure in all of your endeavors. I thank you.
