Mrs. James: Peace, FATHER.
FATHER: Peace, Mrs. James. What did you want to see ME for?
Mrs. James: I wanted to see YOU because I am sick. I have diabetes and I can't hardly see and I want YOUR help. Some lady told me about YOU and she told me some prayer to pray and YOU would come before me, and YOU would come before me with a little brown suit on.
FATHER; What did she tell you to pray?
Mrs. James: "I thank YOU, FATHER, Peace!"
FATHER: I see. Well, that was a way of seeking to contact ME mentally and spiritually, as it is not necessary to contact ME Personally especially, but as you contact ME mentally and spiritually, you will get results through the relaxation of your conscious mentality and through stilling yourself by making up your mind to live exactly according to MY Teaching.
Mrs. James: Thank YOU, FATHER.
FATHER: Prayer is the heart's sincere desire unuttered and unexpressed, though at times you may make an effort to express it; but the heart is better contacted by the Spirit and with the Spirit and the Spirit itself maketh intercession in groanings which cannot be uttered, but the uttered prayer shows an expression of your concentrated thought and your sincere desire at times; but the sincere desire is the prayer that may not be expressed. You cannot explain it. The same as the song says:
"There's something within that holdeth the reins,
There's something within I cannot explain.
All I know, there's something within."
So you cannot explain it, but yet you have an anxiety and have a desire to explain it, but yet it is bigger and better and greater than you can explain it. The desire comes from the heart; it comes from the Spirit and the mind of the consecrated and contrite heart and touches the Spirit and the Mind of GOD, and your prayers are heard and answered speedily on such terms at times.
So if you have implicit faith and unshaken confidence and rely on the Infinite, you will find your prayers, which are your desires, are heard and answered and you will feel better.
Mrs. James: Thank YOU, FATHER. I feel better since I have been down here. I said I was going to see Mrs. K. and tell her I was going home, but I am glad I stayed, because I wanted to see YOU as YOU looked when YOU appeared to me in a little brown suit.
FATHER: I do wear a brown suit at times.
Mrs. James: Well, that is the way YOU came to me.
FATHER: So if you have implicit faith and unshaken confidence, it is the great essential, since I do not use any material remedies, neither do I make a physical effort, neither do I use material methods, but the mental and spiritual contact is the great essential and matters are usually adjusted satisfactorily through the faith the individuals have in ME.
Mrs. James: I don't even. feel like I was sick since I have been down here. I don't even feel like I did when I first started down here.
FATHER: It is Wonderful! So if you abide by your physician's instructions by refusing to eat the things that are detrimental to your physical structure and abstain from all appearance of evil and have your conscience clear by getting right with GOD and your fellowman mentally and spiritually, then GOD can hear you effectively if you do not take anything in eating that would be detrimental.
Now if you have a diabetic condition, the physician does tell you one should not continue to eat sweets and starches and if they have the swelling of the limbs, they should not use salt and things like that and they should not eat a whole lot of red meat and the like. Those are the things—if you abstain from them and live the Life and have faith, MY Spirit can reach your condition, for you have kept the things out of your system that are detrimental.
Mrs. James: Thank YOU, FATHER.
FATHER: Okay. Keep the faith and I will be with you.
Mrs. James: Thank YOU, FATHER. I will pray and I will try to do the right thing. I will come back to see YOU again. I just feel so good, I just feel like shouting all over.
FATHER: It is 'Wonderful Okay. Peace and many blessings!
Secretary: This is Mrs. Allen, FATHER.
FATHER: Peace, Mrs. Allen! Take a seat. What did you want to see ME for, Mrs. Allen?
Mrs. Allen: Well, I just wanted to see YOU to tell YOU some things that I wanted to find out; whether I should or shouldn't and then I wanted YOU to send out some thoughts for my hands and my feet.
FATHER: You have trouble with them?
Mrs. Allen: Yes.
FATHER: I see. I suppose that you understand, it is not anything I do as a Person for you; any material remedy, or anything of that sort.
Mrs. Allen: Your prayers are a great deal to me.
FATHER: Well, Faith is the victory that overcometh, and prayer is the heart's sincere desire, unuttered or unexpressed, and it is worth a whole lot if a person has faith. Where do you live, Mrs. Allen?
Mrs. Allen: 942 N. 13th Street.
FATHER: I see. You have something like arthritis, or . . . ?
Mrs. Allen: Well, not that I know of.
FATHER: You said about your feet and hands.
Mrs. Allen: I have diabetes, you see, and my toes get stiff at times. It bothers me in walking if I try to bend them.
FATHER: I see. Well as far as the doctors are concerned, I AM quite sure the doctors have told you not to eat starches and things like that; so by going according to your doctor's instructions and living according to same, I imagine, at least, I know the Spirit can work for you. You say you have somewhat of a stiffness in your toes?
Mrs. Allen: Just my toes.
FATHER: I see. Well, if you are living according to the doctor's instructions and then if you make up your mind to live exactly according to the Life and Teaching of Jesus Christ, and let this Mind be in you that was also in Him, by casting out of your system all preconceived prejudices, resentment and anger and any and all of those tendencies—those preconceived tendencies that are detrimental—.
Now, many times a person can overcome certain physical conditions if they overcome the mental and spiritual conditions, the mentality being susceptive and subject to resentment and anger and other tendencies like that and excitement. Those things do not do the body any good, and especially if a person is somewhat diabetically afflicted or if they are asthmatically afflicted; it really reacts on the physical condition, because resentment or anger and excitement causes even the heart to work abnormally out of reason more than it would ordinarily, and it causes it to try to overwork itself.
If a person gets frightened, you see the heart beats quick, or if a person gets angry it causes the heart to beat fast and it also causes the blood to rush up toward the head. Some people who are light complected, it tells on them more effectively than it does do it because you can see their faces turn red, you see. When a person gets angry, you hear some one say:"I know he was mad, his face turned so red," you see, if they are light complected. So it goes to show you, it causes the face to turn red and it does not work good for the other internal organs; it causes the heart to be overworked and many times it brings about heart trouble such as that. But if one is somewhat affected by any condition, by the asthmatic condition or diabetic condition, it would cause the blood not to flow as freely as it should, and naturally it causes the heart to work more strenuously and it affects the body and the physical condition as well as the mental.
But if one can steady himself or herself and cast out of one's self all resentment an all anger and all of those detestable tendencies, such as jealousy and covetousness and everything that would tend to exert one's heart and mind to overcharge the heart and mind, automatically the Spirit of GOD within, in the name of nature even, will work to the advantage of the person to help them throw off the physical ailing condition.
So it is a wonderful thought to know what GOD can do even physically through the physical system, by one living according to HIS Teaching; and yet it is not anything I do physically or Personally to reach the condition of the person, but by emphasizing, advocating and living the Life of Perfection, and causing others to observe it through the Life I AM demonstrating and through the Teaching and what they have heard concerning others, why, naturally, it usually reaches the condition of the patient and the person is usually healed and restored to a mental and spiritual satisfied state of being. So it is a wonderful thought.
As I have often said, though on the other hand I do not use any material methods and l do not make a physical or Personal effort to reach the condition, for I know it is not reached by the physical, personal, external efforts of another; it is not reached by such, especially if it is to be worked out metaphysically or spiritually and by the Spirit, GOD needs not to do anything Personally—your physical M.D. physician is justified in using material remedies; that is his profession, and those who are calling on him should go according to the direction and the prescription that the physician gives them to go by; and if that be true, why then, if the condition can be reached by the remedies such persons are giving, it is wonderful! But if it cannot be reached, you have done your part, and when you have done all you can do and you find you have not accomplished everything you desire to, why, you might let GOD fight your battle and work for you. It is Wonderful!
So just have faith and know within yourself, as long as you live the Life and keep the faith, I will be with you.
Mrs. Allen: Thank YOU ever so much, FATHER.
FATHER: Peace! Many blessings!
Mrs. Allen: I feel better already.
FATHER: Sure. You must feel better.
(After the introduction the lady speaks firstly as follows:)
FATHER I came to tell YOU about my sick son in the hospital. He is doing fine. He is moved from the third floor back to the first floor, and they are sure that he will be coming out soon; and I thank YOU, FATHER, he is doing fine. Of course, he is very quiet and does not have anything to say, but I thank YOU, FATHER, he is improving wonderfully.
FATHER: That is fine.
Mrs. L.: And I thank YOU, FATHER, to bless me with a job. I have been out of work ever since December and I have been living off of the money YOU blessed me to save, and it is getting very low; so I am thanking YOU. I am attending the clinic. The doctors say I have diabetes, and so I am thanking YOU to overcome this.
FATHER: Well, it is good to lay off of anything you eat that would be detrimental to the physical condition.
Mrs. L.: Yes.
FATHER: Diabetic condition shows you have sugar in your blood, or something of that sort. Then a person should not continue to eat so much sweets and starches and things like that.
Mrs. L.: Yes.
FATHER: But in the meantime, MY Spirit and MY Presence can work effectively. When one contacts ME sympathetically, harmoniously and has faith to believe that they can get results, they can get results.
Mrs. L. (happily): Thank YOU, FATHER! Praise YOUR, Name.
FATHER: O. K.
Mrs. L.: FATHER,. I am on a very strict diet and I try to follow that diet.
FATHER: Yes, you comply with the physician's instruction in the way of dieting and I AM sure you can be healed by MY Spirit otherwise. Peace!
Mrs. L. (moving volitionally in the Spirit. Thank YOU, FATHER! Praise YOUR Name! Glory hallelujah! FATHER, may I shake YOUR Hand?
(FATHER sweetly shakes hands with her and Mrs. L. is again overcome by the Spirit as she exclaims:) Praise YOUR Name! So sweet! Thank YOU, FATHER!
FATHER: You are welcome, I AM sure.
Secretary: FATHER DIVINE, Miss Brown.
FATHER: Pleased to meet you. Miss Brown. Take a seat a moment.
Miss Brown: Thank YOU, having trouble with my foot.
FATHER: Well, all you have to do is to have implicit faith and unshaken confidence and make up your mind to live the life exactly according to the Life and the Teaching of Christ as recorded in the Four Gospels, deny yourself and consecrate your life completely to the Service and the Cause of Christ and you will be blessed.
It is not anything I do as a Person to reach your condition, but as you make your mental and spiritual contact harmoniously and sympathetically, you will get results.
Miss Brown: My eyes will get stronger?
FATHER: No doubt, if you do make the rightful contact, mental and spiritual contact and make up your mind to do right, and then live exactly according to MY Teaching, which is to say, exactly according to the Life and the Teaching of Jesus Christ and as the Prayer says,
"Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."
If you forgive everybody that has done anything to you or anyone whom you know, and clear your mind completely and your heart also, from all resentment, anger or anything of that sort that you may hold against anyone else, as GOD forgives you for your sins by you confessing and forsaking them, you should forgive them for theirs, and as you forgive them for theirs, why, you are ridding yourself of all of your resentment or anything of that sort you may hold against anyone else, then your physical body will be healed as well as your spirit and mind, but you must make the rightful contact and have implicit faith to accomplish the blessings to that end. So have faith and make up your mind to live the Life and you will feel better immediately.
Miss Brown : Peace, do I have to pay YOU any fee for it?
FATHER: Nothing. Not any fee.
Miss Brown: (reaching out her hand) May I shake hands with YOU? GOD bless YOU!
FATHER: I don't have to shake hands with you to heal you and I don't have to touch you to heal you. (FATHER then shakes hands with her and says:) I don't mind shaking hands with you and I don't try to feel MYSELF above other people, for GOD is right down here with you! But I just don't have to shake hands to heal a person because I want them to have implicit faith and unshaken confidence without MY touching them in the least and without doing anything for them as a Person, and without using any material methods and also without using any material remedies and without making a physical effort to reach the condition, for your faith in GOD is sufficient!
Miss Brown: Peace.
FATHER : Peace and many blessings.

Mrs. Bolthes: Peace. FATHER.

Mrs. Bolthes: I am very glad to see YOU FATHER. Since nineteen thirty-two, since I heard of YOU, it was my desire to come and shake hands with YOU.
FATHER (shaking hands): Is this the first time you have been here?
Mrs. Bolthes: Yes.
FATHER: How long do you expect to be here?
Mrs. Bolthes: One or two weeks, FATHER. I can't stay very long.
FATHER: Oh, you have a business?
Mrs. Bolthes: We came to Erie, Pennsylvania. My big brother has a family and I have to be back in two weeks.
FATHER: I see.
Mrs. Bolthes: Two years ago I was back East again and I always wanted to come and see YOU and always something happened. I guess I wasn't ready to see FATHER. I felt I wasn't ready to see FATHER. I tried so hard to live the Life and knew exactly what to do, but I didn't have the strength and I wish YOU would help me to live the Life and be better and be one of YOUR followers.
FATHER: Okay. Keep the faith and live the life and I will be with you.
Mrs. Bolthes: And FATHER, I wish, too that YOU give me a better memory. I go to the meetings and try to sing and I just can't open my mouth and it makes me feel so depressed and so unhappy. And FATHER, I have a grandson here. He is fourteen years old. I wish YOU would say a prayer for him and help him.
FATHER: I see. It is not anything I do as a Person to reach the condition, but as you contact ME mentally and spiritually and have implicit faith and unshaken confidence by relying on the Fundamental conscientiously and sincerely, you can and will get results if you will but trust GOD implicitly.
Mrs. Bolthes: I do trust FATHER, but how shall I go about it to make them understand? As soon as I start to talking to them, I just get so choked up. I know YOU are GOD, but yet I can't bring it out clearly to make them understand it. If I could only get that strength to do more and say more, I could help.
FATHFR: Okay.
Mrs. Bolthes: FATHER, couldn't we take him off the insulin?
FATHER: Well, if he abstains from eating all starches and all sweets and everything of that type that would tend to agitate the diabetic condition, if he has no other ailment or complaint, if he will abstain from all of those things, I AM sure he can and will be healed. Of course, it is the same as anything else, it is not anything, I do as a Person to reach one's condition as I afore said, as I do not use material methods, neither do I use material remedies and I do not make a physical effort to reach the condition, but as one contacts ME mentally and spiritually, harmoniously, conscientiously and sincerely, having implicit faith and unshaken confidence, they do get results.
So if you can but have the faith for your grandson and if he will have faith for himself, he can be healed of the ailment and complaint by not doing the things that would tend to agitate or increase the condition of his diabetes. MY Spirit will do it by he not taking on anything that would tend to agitate it. It gets in your eyes and things like that, at times, if you allow it to continue, and you continue to eat and drink things that are detrimental.
One should abstain from all sweets and all starches and anything that would tend to agitate the condition even if they did not take insulin.
Mrs. Bolthes: We will try our best, FATHER. I will, Sir.
FATHER: Sure. Well, that is not a hard thing to do. Just abstain from all starches and all sweets and see if he doesn't feel better.
Mrs. Bolthes: Do YOU think he should abstain from all things and get off of the insulin right away?
FATHER : He can improve immediately as he relaxes his conscious mentality and stills himself and trusts ME wholeheartedly, realizing it is not by might, but by MY Spirit, says the Lord. The Spirit of MY Presence can and will adjust matters satisfactorily for him and will free him from the condition, if he has implicit faith and unshaken confidence and will trust ME conscientiously and sincerely.
Mrs. Bolthes: Thank YOU, FATHER. FATHER, please just give him the understanding that they will learn a little easier. It is awfully hard. He and his brother have such a time in their school work, especially in reading and writing. The diabetic boy is fourteen and the other is fifteen. I want to follow YOU wherever YOU go, and FATHER, I wish I could have that feeling to serve YOU in my heart that YOU are GOD. I can say it with my voice, but yet I just can't feel it. I want to feel it and express it. If I only could.
FATHER: The Bible does say:
"If you hear of any man inquiring after me, tell him I said, first deny himself, lay down the world take up his cross and come and follow me."
And when the word is used, as a man or woman, it is applicable for each and everyone in that same state of consciousness. So if you can and will but have implicit faith and unshaken confidence, MY Spirit can and will make the way for you and bless you and free you completely.
Mrs. Bolthes: Thank YOU, FATHER. May I see YOU once more before I go, FATHER, please?
FATHER: Yes, according to how long you are here.
Mrs. Bolthes: Well, a week or two I expect to stay. I expect to go to Pine Brook next week.

Well, how have you been?
Mr. Shaw: Well, not so good. I have diabetes, FATHER DIVINE, and I have pains in my legs and shoulders.
FATHER: What is supposed to be your ailment?
Mr. Shaw: Diabetes in the blood—and I have pains in the shoulders there and here and in the knees.
FATHER: Perhaps you have what is called rheumatics.
Mr. Shaw: Rheumatism— yes, I do.
FATHER: I see. Well perhaps you are eating the things that are not good for you.
Mr. Shaw: No, I am on a diet for the diabetes for ten years. I am not supposed to eat anything sweet or starchy.
FATHER: Well, while you are not supposed to eat anything sweet or starchy,
Mr. Shaw: Yes, I am dieting for diabetes.
FATHER: ... well, suppose you regulate your diet for your rheumatics or arthritis, and suppose you lay off of red meat for the arthritis. You are staying away from sugars and starches for diabetes; if you stay away from red meat and things that are sour, and acid things that are detrimental, no doubt the pains will disappear into its nothingness as well as the diabetic condition will improve.
Mr. Shaw: I have taken insulin for the diabetes.
FATHER: I see. Then dieting and abstaining from the things that are not good for the arthritis,
Mr. Shaw: Well, FATHER, to tell YOU the truth, I am trying to keep away from the things that are not good for me, and I come to YOU— E. was telling me about YOU and I came to YOU.
FATHER: Well, I AM very happy you came down, but I would like to know you are made well and healthy. Of course, it is not anything I do as a Person to reach one's condition since I don't use material remedies and I don't use material methods and I do not make a physical effort to reach the physical condition—but anything that is detrimental to the physical system or person, I think it would be better to abstain from those things and live in the clear mentally and spiritually.
Mr. Shaw: Yes.
FATHER: 0f course, MY Work is mental and spiritual.
Mr. Shaw: Yes.
FATHER: But it is good for a person to be at a place in consciousness, and physically as well as mentally and spiritually, where they can harmonize with the Fundamentals that are trying to reach the condition, and matters can be adjusted satisfactorily as you adhere to your doctor's instruction. I AM sure the Spirit of MY Actual Presence can and will adjust matters satisfactorily mentally and spiritually. And if you abstain from the things that are detrimental to your physical system, in the way of refusing to eat the things that are detrimental, you will be made well and healthy again.
Mr. Shaw: I hope so.
FATHER: As I said and said in a Message, you no doubt heard it this morning ...
Mr. Shaw: I heard it at twelve o'clock and I heard it at three o'clock again.
FATHER: Well, that is Wonderful. You see, when we abstain from those things that are detrimental and live in harmony with the Fundamentals, the Spirit of GOD's Actual Presence will work automatically and will adjust matters satisfactorily.
Mr. Shaw: All right FATHER. I am praying to YOU, FATHER DIVINE, day and night to help me.
Another thing that is troubling me, I have to take medicine to help elimination and a friend of mine told me to mention that to YOU.
FATHER: I see. Well, as I told you, it is not necessary to contact ME Personally especially, as the mental and spiritual contact is the great essential.
Mr. Shaw: Yes, Sir. Well, I will try to do that.
FATHER: And by thinking harmoniously and sympathetically, matters are adjusted satisfactorily, because one is stilling himself when they relax the conscious mentality and trust GOD.
Mr. Shaw: Yes.
FATHER: So the prayer will be heard and answered and you will get results. It is written,
"Before they call I will answer and while they are yet speaking I will hear."
So trust and believe and you will receive.
Mr. Shaw: (rising and shaking hands with FATHER): I thank YOU, FATHER DIVINE.
FATHER: You are welcome, I AM sure, and many blessings.
Mr. Shaw: I am praying to YOU, FATHER DIVINE, and to GOD Almighty and everybody, and I can't explain how happy I am to see and talk to YOU.
FATHEB: Thank you. Now you just relax and everything will be all right, and do according to your physician's instruction for the diabetic condition, and then if you take MY Advice as far as abstaining from those things that are detrimental to your rheumatic condition, matters will be adjusted satisfactorily and you will be made well, healthy and happy mentally and spiritually and you will be a well man again.
Mr. Shaw: Well, FATHER, I would like to ask a question if it is not any harm. I am allowed three or four slices of bacon a day and I eat a couple or three or four slices of beef at times.
FATHER: Well, beef is the red meat.
Mr. Shaw: Beef is the red meat?
FATHER: Yes. And I AM sure you should not eat things highly flavored or salty. And if you keep warm and comfortable, those things will leave your system, and limbs completely, because GOD is with you.
Mr. Shaw: Well, FATHER, I am proud to see YOU and I pray to YOU day and night and I like YOU! Well, goodbye, FATHER DIVINE, I am sorry for the trouble I caused YOU.
FATHER (smiling sweetly): No trouble at all. Peace, and many blessings.
(After the introduction, FATHER speaks as follows:)
You might take a seat for a few seconds, because I AM only giving a few seconds. What did you want to see ME for, Mrs. W.?
Mrs. W: Well FATHER, I have had an awful lot of trouble through my married life, and now I am supposed to have sugar diabetes. This whole leg has given me an awful lot of trouble.
FATHER: Well, you should stick to your diet and do not eat things that are detrimental and eventually you will overcome it. MY Spirit will bring you out of many things without so much suffering and so much pain if you trust ME, wholeheartedly. It is not anything I do from a Personal point of view, but MY Spirit and MY Ever Presence will work for you effectively as you bring your body into subjection.
Mrs. W.: I thank YOU, FATHER. Through a friend of mine I have been attending YOUR services.
FATHER: Who was that?
Mrs. W.: Mrs. H. I think her name is L., and she was telling me to pray to YOU about my leg and it got better.
FATHER: Well, just don't eat the things and drink the things that are detrimental to your physical condition and let MY Spirit have free access within you and bring you into subjection to higher thinking. Refuse to tolerate negative thinking and MY Spirit will be with you. Okay. Where do you live, Mrs. W.? (She gives FATHER her address and FATHER continues speaking:) Just take ME along with you.
Mrs. W.: I will take YOU along with me, FATHER, It was YOUR Spirit that came to me.
FATHER: Yes.
Mrs. W.: And I heard the voice say, "FATHER DIVINE is the greatest power on earth." And another voice said, "I gave you HIS Name in nineteen seventeen", and I don't know, FATHER, my faith began to grow, and I came down to service today.
FATHER: Well, I AM very pleased to have you come, and as you get in the vibrations of the Spirit of the consciousness of MY Presence, I will work for you very effectively.

Mrs. H.: I've got sugar in my blood and I know YOU can heal me. The doctor said there is no cure for me, but I know YOU are able. I've got a farm in North Carolina and I thank YOU to heal me so I can do my work on it.
FATHER: Are you taking insulin?
Mrs. H.: I have been taking shots for it.
FATHER: Well, if you go by the instruction of the physician, I can work cooperatively with him. So have implicit faith and unshaken confidence and live the Life and contact ME mentally and spiritually, even as you have contacted ME Personally and MY Spirit and MY Omni and Ever Presence can help you and can bless you and heal you completely.
Mrs. H. (gratefully): I knew YOU could do it. I dreamed about YOU. I saw YOUR Table and I dreamed about it.
FATHER: Okay. Well, keep the faith and I will be with you.
Mrs. H.: Thank YOU.
FATHER : Did you ever have one of MY place cards from ME?

FATHER : Yes, MOTHER's Picture and MINE.
Mrs. H.: Yes, Sir. My sister sent it to me from New York.
FATHER: I see, keep the faith and I will be with you.
