Something never to be forgotten by the more than three thousand who participated, was the trip up the Hudson River on the Gospel Ship, so called, with FATHER DIVINE. It not only was wonderful, but it is wonderful, for the harmony and peace and joy of that perfect day still persists in the hearts and minds of those who experienced it. The trip was sponsored and the boat, S. S. Clermont, chartered by Mr. J. A. Alladice, a follower of FATHER DIVINE. It left the Hudson Day Line Pier at 132nd Street, New York City, with FATHER and HIS party as the invited guests, and not involved in any way with the financial transaction in connection with the trip.
When FATHER and immediate party reached the dock, the ship was already loaded from stem to stern with joyous followers. The top deck and cabin, usually closed to the public and strictly reserved for use by the captain, was turned over to FATHER, and HE proceeded directly there after boarding. It was a beautiful clear day and the water sparkled in the sunlight under a cloudless day. At the appointed hour the ship moved out into the stream to make room at the dock for another ship to make its regular call there. It returned, however, soon after, to wait for one or two bus loads that were delayed, out of the twenty or more that came up from New Jersey.
At ten-twenty A. M. the band, which also had its station on the top deck, under the direction of Professor Haron Clarke, struck up the tune of the "Gospel Ship", and the ship sailed on while the angels sang as follows:
"We're going to take a trip
In GOD's great Gospel Ship,
We're going far beyond the clouds.
We're going to shout and sing
Until the heavens ring,
When we bid mortal mind goodbye.
We're going to take a ride
Right by our FATHER'S aide,
And we will not have to care.
We'll leave our burdens here
With every sigh and tear,
As we go sailing through the air.
"We're going to take a trip
Up the Hudson on the Clermont ship,
We're sailing sixteen hours long.
August 26th is the day
Leaving ten o'clock without delay,
When we bid New York Harbor goodbye.
Today we're taking a ride .
Right by our FATHER's side,
And we'll have a real good time~
We're sailing up the bay On this beautiful sunshiny day,
With our dear FATHER. DIVINE.
"There never was such joy
On this big ship ahoy,
In the history of our time,
Oh, what a memorable day
On the Clermont up the bay,
With our own dear FATHER DIVINE.
Just see the great big smile
Everyone today is a child,
FATHER belongs to us all,
Aren't you glad you heard HIS voice
For today you can rejoice,
That you answered FATHER's call."
At eleven A. M. F'ATHER led HIS angels to the dining room downstairs, which had been reserved for the usual banquet, and while the shores slipped by and the cool breezes blew they enjoyed the abundance of spiritual and material food at FATHER'S table. All joined FATHER in singing:
"I have millions of blessings,
I have millions of blessings,
Every day they are multiplied by as many,many more.
I have billions of blessings, etc.,
I have trillions of blessings, etc.,
I have quadrillions of blessings, etc.,
I have quintillions of blessings, etc.,
I have sextillions of blessings, etc.,
I have septillions of blessings, etc.,
I have octillions of blessings, etc.,
I have duodecillions of blessings, etc.,
I have decillions of blessings, etc.,
I have decillions of decillions of blessings, etc."
This song was followed by:
"According to the abundance, love and mercy, GOD, your FATHER has blessed this food."and:
"The abundance of the fullness of the consciousness of good, no space is vacant of the fullness thereof."
FATHER then spoke as follows:
It is Wonderful ! Aren't you glad ! Glad because your soul and your body is saved. That's what Christ came for, to save spirit, soul and body."I pray that they may be one, even as we are one";
the FATHER, Son and the Holy Ghost are one. The spirit and the body and the soul are one! All nations, languages, tongues and people are one, and I came to bring you to that conscious realization ". .. that they may be one, even as we are one. And that was the prayer that Jesus, the great Love Master prayed in the seventeenth chapter of St. John. It is Wonderful!
"I pray not that thou shalt take them out of the world, but that thou shalt keep them from the evil."
And He declared on another occasion,
"Where there is division there is strife,"
and hence, where there are divisions of nations and peoples and nationalities, etc., there is strife! But I came to eradicate all divisions and distinctions and all deviations in answer to Jesus' prayer in the seventeenth chapter of St. John, that you may be one, even as He or even as His FATHER and the Spirit are one, that you may be recognized universally as one family of the Living GOD. It is Wonderful! And that is what all of this is about. That is what it is of — it is of the Spirit and the Life of the Christ as was brought into expression nineteen hundred years ago as a sample and as an example.
Jesus first said unto His Disciples,
"Go unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel,"
but that was not an eternal message. It is Wonderful! That was not of the eternal plan, to seek any nation or people, and He could not have stood to the last, and He could not have been reigning now as King of kings and Lord of lords had He adhered to the first message that He sent His Disciples to carry, and to go to that special nationality,
"Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
That was the mortal version of the human mind given by the inspiration of the Spirit through that mortal version of the human mind that was imposed upon Him. It is Wonderful!
But soon, and very soon thereafter, He caught the great significance of His mission — to bring all nations together in one, and to recognize His at-one-ment with the FATHER — and He said lastly,
"Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every nation and to every creature"
— not only to every nation, but to every creature. We can rejoice and be exceeding glad that lastly this message has come, not only to every nation, but to every creature. It is Wonderful! "For the creature itself shall be changed," to the glorious liberty and the likeness of the Son of GOD, and all shall know and realize that they are one with their Creator. For GOD formed man in HIS own likeness and in HIS image HE produced both it and them and has brought them and I AM as the reproduction of same into expression for the souls of the children of men, that they may realize that they are actually materially, as well as spiritually, and as well as mentally, one with HIM. It is Wonderful! And by so doing, GOD will save your spirit, your soul and your body and preserve the whole all in one,
"for the little leaven leaveneth the whole lump."
It is Wonderful!
"The kingdom of heaven is like unto a woman that took leaven and hid it in three measures of meal"
— hid it in your spirit — that was one measure; in your mind, that 'was another measure, and in your body, that was another measure, until all became leavened. So Christ has come in you, in your spirit, in your mind and your body to make the whole body Spirit.
"They that are joined unto the Lord are one Spirit."
And the little leaven has truly leavened the whole lump, and therefore rightfully and righteously and truthfully you can say that Christ came to save both it and them, your spirit, your body and your mind, and unify them with the infinite whole as the Infinite Brotherhood of man, and you recognize the FATHERHOOD of GOD, your great Creator, where there is no limitation at all. It is Wonderful!
Then, as well as with ME, so will it be with you and with all mankind. None will need lack in GOD's abundance here and now and hereafter, for there is a full and a plenty for all, and a plenty to spare. It is Wonderful! I came to bring peace and prosperity to the world, life, health and love and everything else that's good. So live an Evangelical Life by putting off your mortal versions of your human mind, and rise and walk in the newness of life, and
"Even the creature itself will be changed to the glorious liberty of the sons of God."
And if you think you are old, why, you will be young: it is written,
"If there be a messenger among you, one among a thousand," Elihu said, "my soul hath seen a ransom, his flesh shall be fresher than a child's and he shall return to the days of his youth."
You have no more cause to falter or fear, for GOD has cast out all of your fears and put away all your sorrows and troubles, and GOD has wiped away all tears.
