FATHER and MOTHER DIVINE
(FATHER Speaks as follows:)
Peace, Everyone: At this instance I would just like to say, whilst sitting and looking over the seeming happy audience, in the which, no doubt, you are, I thought of this happiness coming and remaining by each of you doing the Will of GOD. I also thought of our Work is not for the purpose of catering to child delinquency, neither for the purpose of catering to adult's delinquency!
I happened to look stressfully at Mrs. or Miss Sweet Music, S. Music, better known, or rather, Mrs. Lassiter. I have noticed she has been hanging around here for quite some time, nearly every day! — and I questioned , does she have nurses to take care of those children? Do you have nurses to take care of the children and to watch over them while you are taking up so much time over here when you are not desired? Do you? (Mrs Lassiter just looks at FATHER but does not answer.) I AM speaking to Miss Music, or rather Mrs. Lassiter, having a number of infant children and little girls under age, needs a mother's care or guardian's care — and you I see around here practically all the time! We do not tolerate nor compromise with anyone catering to child's delinquency!
Not a true follower of mine would endorse you leaving the children like that! — though we have, through and under the Peace Mission Movement, raised up hundreds and even thousands of children, as it may be termed, for the last twenty years — but those who were brought up under the Peace Mission Movement, they have had guardians, if the parents were in the meetings or elsewhere and they were under the Peace Mission Movement, they had guardians and nurses and others to care for them while they were unable to care for themselves!
So I thought to call your attention to that. But to the contrary of being competent and reliable and true, you can continue to come here, when you know you are not desired, and write letters to ME, in the which would be actually unlawful according to the legal laws of the land; and yet you continue to do so, knowing that you are not wanted and not desired, and continue to desert the children when you should be with them, unless you have some proof to show ME that you have guardians over them or nurses where they are cared for properly. If not, I AM sure not any of MY True Followers want you around here! (Loud applause rings out.)
I did not speak of it publicly until now, because I have been waiting and have told you so many times about what you have been writing and what you have been thinking; it's absolutely ill bred and unrefined and indecent!
I further want to say that I especially call your attention to it now, because here it is three o'clock; and several different nights it has been said you have stayed over here all night, sitting around in the lobby or somewhere else and refusing to go and take care of your children! Now if you do not and will not obey ME, you will obey Uncle Sam by the legal system of his majesty! (Loud applause rings out in sanction of this.)
We do not tolerate anyone, even say, catering to the delinquency of children, much less than that of deserting them yourself and encouraging them to be delinquent, by you as an adult and with other adults — being delinquent in that which is your duty!
I need not say more at this particular instance, but I thought to call your attention to it as I see you here and have seen you here so many different times, and not paying any attention or caring for the children. Unless you can prove to ME definitely, you have nurses or guardians over them, and are caring for them properly, you had better see to it that you are not here again in the catering to the delinquency of the children that should be brought up in a decent and respectable way; and even little girls — anything can happen when you are staying out all night, absolutely unnecessarily, for that which you are talking about and thinking about will not be as long as I sling the ball! (Again thunderous applause and cheers fill the air.)
So I thought to call your attention to it and make it plain before the audience, so that they will know why I speak as I do and why we do not pay any attention to you! We do not want any panhandlers in our audiences, going around begging and soliciting! We never take up a collection even in our Churches or Church connections, and we do not want anyone else to come around soliciting and begging!
I thought to call your special attention to that, and I further wish to say while I AM on MY Feet, in keeping with this, MY Righteous Endeavor, I do not want anyone under the Peace Mission Movement who claims, or whomsoever you may be that claim to be believers, or even sympathizers, going into others' private rooms where you are not assigned to; rooms that you do not sleep in!
It has been definitely, stressfully emphasized, over and over again, not any of you should go in the other's rooms, unless you are the roommate or roommates to those with whom you are accompanying or associating with in the rooms; I mean, in the bedrooms!
Some of you so-called sisters and some of you so-called Believers and Followers, some may even have the audacity to call themselves Rosebuds, will not stay away from others' rooms — from the other Rosebuds' rooms, other sisters' rooms, where they are not occupying those rooms!
From now, henceforth, I want any of you to report any brother or sister visiting another brother's room. I AM talking about if it is a brother or Crusader visiting in the other Crusader's or brother's rooms and they have no legitimate cause, or if it is not necessary for them to go in there — just to socialize and visit — let it be known and they can get elsewhere to stay!
As with the brother or brothers I mentioned, so with the sisters — Rosebuds and all others!
Now you may stay away from their rooms when they have retired, or even if they have not retired — if any of you are caught or found visiting each other — I mean, Rosebuds or sisters visiting sisters rooms to socialize, or anything of that sort, matters not how good it may be — unless it is for some absolutely necessary cause, and that of a business nature, whereby you would be justified in so doing — if you were called to go into one's room if one was said to be dying, or ill in some way — that would be a different proposition; something that would be necessary! But unless there is some extreme emergency that is absolutely necessary, every sister should stay away from the other sisters' or Rosebuds' rooms and doors! And if I find that I have any record on MY Desk, any morning when I come in MY Office, that you have been doing such, you will be excommunicated — whether you be a brother or sister, Rosebud or Crusader; matters not who you may be! — if you have violated any of these rules, we do not need you!
Now that is in keeping with our Righteous Endeavor and with our Modest Code!
Take these thoughts to consideration, and unless you confess and forsake it you will feel the effect of it! — and unless you confess it and forsake it, you will be exposed of it! I thank you!
(As FATHER concluded HE pushed in His Chair, and both HE and MOTHER left the Holy Communion Hall. Upon entering the Office the children who usually cluster around the hall and door, waiting to come in for one more peek, seemed slow in arriving. MOTHER then remarked;)
Where are all the children?
(FATHER replied:)
I guess what I said is weighting them down a bit — but what I AM going to do will weight them down that much more!
(When the adoring throng had finally jammed the Office, FATHER gave this important postscript, speaking as follows:)
In keeping with the postscript as given, as I was entering the room, I also had an interview proof read publicly at the Table, very recently, just yesterday, or this morning sometime; an interview that I gave Miss Faithful Peace; and depicted all of those who want to have places as competitors to the Peace Mission Movement and as underminer's of the Peace Mission Movement, and yet they are not giving the comfort and convenience to the children that they are trying to get to go in those places, by having little, old hovels, not suitable for people to live in! Those who live in those places are not welcome to dine in our places! Let them have dining rooms for their own kind! — for those whom they have persuaded to come in them!
The same like manner about MY True Followers will not ride in cars that are not Church cars, unless they are public cars! I thank you!
