Early Spring at the Shrine

Early Spring at the Shrine

Slow me down, LORD!
Ease the pounding of my heart,
By the quieting of my mind.
Moderate my hurried pace
With a Vision
Of the Eternal Reach of Time!

Give me,
Amidst the pressures of my busy day,
The Calmness
Of the Everlasting Hills.
Break the tensions
Of my nerves,
Relax the tightness
Of my muscles
With the soothing Music
Of the Singing Streams
That are flowing in my memory!

Help me know
The magic, restoring power of Rest and Sleep.
Teach me the Art
Of taking minute vacations,
Of slowing down
To smell a flower,
To pat a dog,
To cheer a neighbor,
To read a few lines
From the Good Book!

Remind me every day
Of the Fable of the tortoise and the hare,
That I may realize
The race is not always to the swift,
But to those who Endure,
That there is more to this Life
Than increasing its speed!

Let me look Upward
Into the branches of the Towering Oak,
And know that it grew great and strong
Because it grew slowly and well!

Slow me down, LORD!
Inspire me
To send my roots
Deep into the Fertile Soil
Of Life's Enduring Values
That I may soar
Toward the Stars
Of my Greater Destiny!

Thank YOU
Our Ever Present, All Wise, All Loving
