FATHER DIVINE and MOTHER DIVINE
in the Circle Mission Church, Bronx, N. Y.,N. Y.
In the days of the Body called Jesus, when on one occasion the authorities tried to kill Him for working on the Sabbath, Jesus said:
'My Father worketh hitherto and I work.'
In this present dispensation, no longer under the jurisdiction of the Son but
the FATHER, known to the world as FATHER DIVINE, we have a parallel, but this
time we have the FATHER saying to the son, "Because you work, I work."
These Words were part of a Message spoken by FATHER DIVINE when one of HIS believers testified that she had been criticized for working, and at the same time declaring GOD to be here in a Body. It was the contention of the critic that if GOD were here, she would not have to work.
FATHER Spoke in response to the aforementioned testimony, in the presence of thousands at HIS New York City Headquarters, Saturday, May 25th, preceded by a song:
'GOD worked six days, on the seventh He rested.
GOD worked six days, GOD worked six days,
He worked as a sample and as an example,
GOD worked as a sample for men.'
Peace, Everyone! Righteousness, Justice and Truth, with Good Manners, Good Behavior, and a Good Understanding for you! By so doing and by so being, and by having such qualities and expressions, we will have a Righteous Government, and we will not only have a Righteous Government but we will be intelligent. It is ignorance for a person to think that because a person is converted from sin, vice and crime that person should not work but be exempt from working and lean on GOD. They have not studied the catechism. If they have, they have not digested it!
'Six days shalt thou work, and do all of thy labor;" but "on the seventh day you should rest,'
according o the catechism. You can get that in the kindergarten. Therefore, if
you are supposed to be super- intelligent, you are ignorant if you think a person
should not work because he believes in GOD. That is why you will work. To be
Godly, means GOD-Like, and to be like GOD, GOD worked at least six days. Even
though He was GOD until the consciousness of man was established in bodily forms
in the name called man, to know that GOD was GOD in reality, it was essential
for GOD to work.
It is essential for you to work, so long as you do not know you are GOD! It s indeed Wonderful! Until man knew that GOD was GOD, GOD worked and made all those things and all these things which we are now enjoying. Hence GOD worked first, as a sample and as an example. You are ignorant if you think GOD does not mean for you to work and be practical because you are believers in HIM. The practicality of GOD is the reality of HIM. GOD is not real merely in the mystical and imaginary realm, but for the children of men the condescension and the practicality of GOD on earth among them is the great essential GOD making Himself practical as HE did in the beginning, as I aforesaid, working six days not merely to be working for exercise, for physical exercises, but GOD was working for the purpose of establishing the practicality of Himself in reality in and on the material plane.
Hence GOD worked and created, and made, and formed, all these things we are now enjoying. Oh, it is such a privilege! Because you work, I work, and because you worked and the criticism arose, I brought forth the composition as a worker for you, and for those of you that would be interested in being inspired by inspiration and by the Light of GOD'S Understanding, as the True Teacher of Salvation exhibited.
Because of the last speaker's testimony, I brought forth the composition, working mentally and spiritually as a Teacher of Salvation to teach you the mystery concerning GOD Himself, HIS Activity, yea, His Activities and His Working among His people. Hence, the very act of this last speaker has caused ME to work Personally and mentally at this juncture. I AM working scientifically, mentally and spiritually, teaching wisdom concerning GOD and the Kingdom of Heaven. I AM freeing you from the delusions and illusions of men concerning spiritual things, causing you to realize, spiritual things are as practical and profitable as those things that are called material.
GOD made Himself practical and profitable by materially working and materializing those things that were spiritual, that you might realize them and enjoy them. Oh, it is such a privilege, Dear Ones, to think of the mystery of GOD as it is revealed the very Presence of GOD is rich and all you need. Though critics may arise from time to time, every time a critic arises in opposition to an expression, word, deed or action, the Wisdom of GOD is exhibited so illuminatingly that it lights up the understanding of those that misunderstand, and causes them to see and know even as you do, and causes them to be even as I AM. Oh, it is such a privilege, Dear Ones!
'Six days shalt thou work, and do all of thy labor;" (Exodus 20:9)
for GOD worked six days as a sample and as an example. We are speaking after
the manner of men. We are speaking according to the Scriptures that they might
understand them. We are speaking after the manner of men, according to their
theories and doctrines. It is essential for us to speak in their language, that
they might understand us. Hence, I AM speaking from that angle, and they can
understand it. Oh, it is indeed Wonderful!
Just think of these Truths in other words, this Truth as it is put forth into expression from many angles. When the critics arise, the Spirit of MY Presence will tell you something to say. It will teach you wisdom sufficient to confound the wise. Oh, it is indeed Wonderful! You see, I do not think as a Person, and yet I AM speaking continually. These Thoughts are coming forth spontaneously, for GOD is the inspiration and GOD is speaking and acting it Personally, Mentally and Spiritually.
Just think of it,
'...as he is,'
one said,
'so are we in this present world.'
And,
'According to your faith, so be it unto thee." And, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.'
Your thoughts may be positive, real and true, and the positiveness of the positive
will be reflected in you. When this shall have been brought to fruition by constantly
living accordingly, you will be the personification of positive thinking. There
will be no ground for criticism. Even though you may apparently be ignorant,
the wisdom of GOD that teaches understanding will appear to you, for it has long
since been said, and I verify the same,
'The grace of GOD that bringeth salvation Has appeared to all men, Teaching that, denying Ungodliness and worldly lusts, they should live Soberly, righteously and godly, in this present world.'
This cannot be perverted when you are truly converted. It cannot be, for your
mind is so confirmed and substantiated in your conscious conviction and conversion,
it is a matter of impossibility for the theories and doctrines of men, and their
criticisms, to pervert your version.
'Firm as a Rock, this Truth shall stand, While rolling ages shall cease to move.'
GOD deals in the affairs of men, and GOD has come in your hearts and in your minds, with His mighty illuminating Spirit of Love, transforming you by the renewing of your mind, causing you to be new creatures in reality; no longer merely imaginarily or mystically but you are conscious of your renewed spirit. Being conscious of your renewed spirit and renewed mind, you can see, your bodily forms have been renewed by the renewing of your mind. You know you feel good! ("Yes FATHER!" came the enthusiastic response of thousands.) This magnetic current of GOD's Infiniteness causes you to be infinitely inspired, and causes your mentality and your physical ability, with your personal, and physical energies, to be energized by the Spirit of GOD's Presence that is transmitted to you. It will teach you wisdom, will give you courage and cause you to be courageous, cause you to be persistent in your ambition, cause you to be fearless, and yet cause you to be obedient, honest and true, endeavoring to do what GOD bids you do yet you will be fearless, for,
'perfect love casteth out fear.'
Oh, it is such a privilege! You are living in the Presence of GOD, where the
illumination of GOD's Presence, through your conscious conviction, will dispel
all adversities and will establish your going in the Land of the Living, and
will bring peace and harmony where there was confusion. Now you are resting,
as it was predicted: "When my soul shall be resting in the Presence of the
Lord, I shall be satisfied." I know you are satisfied. ("Yes, FATHER!" again
rang out from the congregation.) Not only that which is called your soul but
that which is known as your body is resting in the Presence of the LORD and you
are satisfied. It is indeed Wonderful!
This is the way it will be all over the world after awhile. The Dawn of the Millennium has truly come, and the Dawn has truly gone. This is the Noon- Light of Salvation, where the Glory of the Presence of GOD is shining. As the sunlight on this planet at noonday, so the Sunlight of GOD's Understanding shineth in and on your pathway. It is no longer the dawn, but it is bright noon- day! This Omnilucence has turned all your darkness of misunderstanding into bright noonday, for the Light is shining as it shone around Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration. Oh, it is indeed Wonderful! The Glows of His Rays, and the Rays of His Glows are now shining in you. You know it is true fulfilling the request of the Master in the name of Jesus: "Let your light so shine before men." The Glows of GOD's Rays, and the Rays of GOD's Glows are now shining in. They are shining in you. Hence you are the Light of the World; the Light of men that shineth in the darkness of the misunderstanding of them and they comprehend it not. I think I had better stop!
Out of MY Mouth goeth at this time the Living Bread of Life. These Words that I speak to you, they are Spirit and they are Life for they are inspiration to you. They will inspire you. They will quicken that inner man within you. The Christ within that has been lying dormant, I came to Resurrect it. You are living in the Resurrection. Through this great illuminating Spirit of GOD's Presence as it is put forth into expression it is resurrecting the Christ in you that has been lying dormant. He would have been resurrected long since, but because of the consciousness of negative conditions, thinking consciously on such things, it prohibited the resurrection of the Christ within you.
That is why I brought forth this little composition for consideration, as a matter to be reiterated and considered by all of the people.
'The relaxation of the conscious mentality is But the reconception of GOD's Omniscience.'
You have consciously or unconsciously conceived GOD's Omniscience, GOD's Life,
GOD's Love, yea, GOD Himself in the Name of His Son, but you must relax your
conscious mentality before it can be reconceived in your consciousness and subconsciousness,
to be put forth into expression consciously.
That is why the Apostle puts it on one occasion:
'Put off the old man with all of his deeds.'
It is essential to put off your versions, your theories and your doctrines, and
the theories and doctrines of men, which are but the habitation of your conscious
mentality. Your conscious mentality is the habitation for the theories and doctrines
and versions of men, as you have put them on through their theories and doctrines.
Through their teachings and through your studies, consciously you have conceived
these versions that must be relaxed and must be put off completely, that Christ
might rise within you and be recognized supremely.
Christ must be enthroned on the throne of your mind as Lord of lords and King of kings. This will be accomplished when you shall have dethroned all others that you have enthroned on the throne of your mind. Through their theories and doctrines they have been reigning heretofore, but I came to dethrone them. I AM dethroning them I say, impeaching and dethroning those that have been reigning unrighteously, and re-enthroning the Christ, your Redeemer, in their places, for Christ is Lord of all of them, and King of all of the kings. That is the mystery of Christ being Lord of lords and King of kings, and of the song that was given by inspiration through Christendom:
'All hail the power of Jesus' name !
Let angels prostrate fall,
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.'
Crowning Day has truly come, for Christ has truly been enthroned. Therefore the time has truly come, that you must Crown Him, LORD of all ! That is the mystery! Therefore bring forth your Royal Diadem, "and Crown Him LORD of all." Remember, this is not merely mystical, and yet it is not confined nor bound to materiality, it is not confined nor bound to personality, neither to an individual as the expression of individuality, but it is something that can and will be 'individuated' as it is reincarnated. And as it is brought to fruition in the individuals, and personified, you can realize it is the embodiment of these ideas brought to fruition as the Fundamental and as the Redeemer.
Nevertheless, with or without the personal bodily forms, you could and should consider, you must "bring forth the royal diadem and crown Him Lord of all." As a Principle, Christ came, as the Fundamental Impersonal; nevertheless, this must be recognized Personal or Impersonal, as it is discerned and brought to fruition; but while observing it Impersonal, it will not prohibit you from observing the Personification of it wheresoever it is brought to fruition and personified. At the same time, or in other words, in the meantime, you can realize the Impersonal Life or Principle of that identical expression even though it is Personified, for you will observe it from the spiritual side, that you might not be confined nor bound to the thought of it from the mortal version, as a mortal person would. Oh, it is such a privilege to observe it as it is, Personal or Impersonal. When it is discerned by you from the positive direction, you can observe it Personal or Impersonal, for GOD was and is, both Personal and impersonal. HE could not be Omnipotent if HE were not Personal as well as Impersonal, for there is a power in personality, there is a power in individuality, but all of these expressions of the great expression of GOD must be recognized from the stand wherein they are found. With the right concept and understanding of the same, it will not cause you to doubt nor fear, but it will give you a better light of understanding.
GOD Personified Himself in the Body of flesh called Jesus, as a sample and as an example, as I stressed the mystery of GOD working. It was essential for GOD to Personify Himself, as you as humanity, would be universally personified. The earth was created ---- it was invisible, impractical, unprofitable and good for nothing until it was materialized. When the earth was invisible it was good for nothing, but when GOD materialized it, according to MY fanatical phrase, when GOD tangibilated it, GOD made it a reality, and therefore it was good for something.
'In the beginning God created he, male and female,'
each expression of this particular version. They were impersonal in the beginning,
but GOD formed them as an outward expression of His Own imagination. In His Image
and Likeness He made them. When this was accomplished, then and there GOD had
materialized and personified mental and spiritual things that He had created.
By the personification of the man, it did not prohibit GOD's Work and GOD's Handiwork
from being expressed. The personification of men was the way and means through
which GOD could and would manifest His Handiwork, as in the way of manifesting
His Handiwork condescendingly He came through the identical expression of the
Creation, and of the unfoldment and reflection of manifesting His Handiwork,
HE brought Himself into expression and His Word was made Flesh and dwelt among
us.
After the Word was made flesh, brought into materialization and materially manifested, it was an outward expression and a sample and an example whereby GOD could manifest His Glory, and
'In Him was life; and that life was the light of men, that lighteth every man that cometh into the world.'
Hence, all Wisdom, Knowledge and understanding are within Him. Therefore, He
said on another occasion,
'In him dwelleth the fullness of God.'
'The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld him as the only begotten of the FATHER,) full of grace and of truth.'
With this observed, it brought to your conscious realization the Glory of GOD.
For the people collectively and universally it was expressed. GOD exhibited in
Jesus, a sample and an example, that you might visualize it, and when you visualized
it and beheld it as it was
'...of all of his fullness have we received, grace for grace.'
Do you not see the great essential of observing the Fundamental Personified?
When the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, it was for the purpose of demonstrating
and manifesting the Glory of GOD, and all of GOD's fullness, for all could not
have been manifested in the invisible. Therefore it was essential for Him to
come Personified in the Personal, to manifest Himself in the fullness of His
Glory.
'The Word was made flesh,'
it says, and dwelt among us,
'and we beheld his glory, as the glory of the only begotten of the FATHER,) full of grace and of truth,'
-- - not partially, but
'full of grace and of truth.'
That is the way we could behold it, because it was Personified, because it had
been materialized, because it had been reflected and manifested, in the flesh.
Your conscious mentality and physical sight could not behold the Glory, saving
as it was materially manifested according to Scripture.
As
'...we beheld his glory, as the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth,'
then and there,
'of all of his fullness have we all received, grace for grace,'
in the fulfillment of that which he had aforesaid,
'.... as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them, that believed on his name.'
Just by believing, you receive Him, and by seeing Him as He was and as He is,
'of all of His fullness have you received.'
Take these thoughts to consideration. It is your privilege, not only individually
but collectively, yea, universally, for the Love of GOD is unselfish, it is for
one and all that will bring their bodies into subjection. I thank you.
