As Mr. Robert H. Jones, Chairman of the Inaugural Committee Announced MOTHER DIVINE of the Mount of the House of the LORD, of Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, MOTHER rose from Her seat beside the one the Governor had provided for FATHER DIVINE next to Her. There were important officials standing because of a shortage of seats, yet because Gov. Shapp acknowleged MOTHER'S recognition of FATHER DIVINE'S Presence and perhaps his own recognition, the seat was reserved for FATHER DIVINE.
MOTHER DIVINE and Miss Mary Justice
MOTHER'S ruby red fitted coat and black mink hat contrasted strikingly with Her fair complexion and blonde hair. Just over the roof of the platform, Old Glory was waving in the chilling winter wind and behind it, was the sun drenched green and gold dome of the Capitol.
The time and place were different but it was reminiscent of another setting and another occasion — the dedication and unveiling of the Portal of Life Eternal of the Shrine to Life at Woodmont. It seems significant that MOTHER'S backdrop should inevitably be the flag which FATHER DIVINE and His Teaching preserve.
Her Presence, a real living symbolism of the Official Coat of Arms of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the lectern in front of Her, bearing the words, "Virtue," "Liberty" and "Independence," spoke what She was unable to say, of GOD and Country.
MOTHER DIVINE said:
Peace! As we look forward in this New Day, we read GOD'S Word from the Revelation of St. John the Divine, Chapter 21, verses one through seven:
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from GOD out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, behold the tabernacle of GOD is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and GOD Himself shall be with them, and be their GOD.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
And He said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his GOD and he shall be My son."
And also from the Book of Genesis, Chapter eleven, verse six:
"And the Lord said, Behold the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."
MOTHER concluded with the statement:
We thank YOU, GOD, our heavenly FATHER DIVINE, for the reading and the truth of Your Word.
