My Dear Mrs. S.:

Your letter of the 19th is at hand and I AM responding to say, it is truly written in the Scripture:

'Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today." (Exodus 14:13)

However, at this time I AM responding to return the check you enclosed for Five Dollars in appreciation for MY Work and Mission. As I do not take up collections, neither receive love offerings, nor gifts, nor presents, nor compensation or remuneration in any form for MY Spiritual work and service, it would be a violation of MY Own Law, as given in the Scriptures, to accept of this gift. This has been MY policy for many, many years, as I AM a Free Gift to the world and there is no man who can honestly say he has ever given ME any money or anything of value. If anyone who is ignorant of MY policy, sends ME a gift as you have done, as an expression of appreciation, it is immediately returned, just as I AM herein returning your check.

Under separate cover I AM enclosing a copy of the Supplement to The New Day, which carries MY Letter "To Whom It May Concern", which will give you verbatim some quotations from the Scripture concerning why neither I nor MY followers receive gifts or tips. With best wishes and many blessings to you in every righteous endeavor, this leaves ME, as I AM Well, Healthy, joyful, Peaceful, Lively, Loving, Successful, Prosperous and Happy in Spirit, Body and Mind and in every organ, muscle, sinew, joint, limb, vein and bone and even in every ATOM, fibre and cell of MY BODILY FORM.

Respectfully and Sincere, I AM

(signed) REV. M. J. DIVINE, Ms. D., D. D.
