Whereas, Father Divine has, for more than a quarter of a century set an eminent example for morality and good citizenship, and is an exponent of the Christian faith. An outstanding world leader, Father Divine has demonstrated an abiding faith and belief in the Declaration of Independence, the United States Constitution (including the Bill of Rights and later amendments) and the American Flag. Father Divine also has promoted the cause of individual independence, the public school system and free universal education. "I believe," Father Divine has said, "that a man is a man, not a so-called color, creed or race....(and)True religion is faith in one indivisible God."
Now therefore, the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania does hereby commend and congratulate Father Divine and his spotless virgin bride, Mother Divine, on the occurrence of the Twenty-Seventh Anniversary of their wedding, April 29, 1973.
And further directs that a copy of this document, sponsored by Senator Freeman Hankins, be transmitted to Father and Mother Divine.
