FATHER DIVINE
Lady: Peace, FATHER.
FATHER: Peace. What might be your name, please?
Lady: Mrs. E. K.
FATHER: I Am pleased to meet you. What did you want to see ME for, Mrs. K.?
Lady: FATHER, a woman came to my house Friday and stole twenty dollars from me and she selected the best of my possessions for me to give to her and she told me my health would be improved.
FATHER: What was she, a flim flammer a pickpocket?
Lady: I think she must have been a gypsy. She came to me and told me she would give me a reading for a dime, and everybody else had told me I had been crossed. And she told me she would help me and gave me that egg treatment or egg system, and she asked me for my money and she called herself wrapping it up in a piece of rag and told me to wear it three days. And she asked me for material and took all my material and clothes and things and pinned the rag on my body and she went away with all my best things.
FATHER: Did she carry the money too?
Lady: Yes. She asked me for a piece of newspaper, but nothing ever came to my mind, but then at a particular time something told me I would never see those things again. She took the old paper and all the clothing and two ten dollar bills and my best dresses, some I have never worn!
FATHER: Well, why didn't you call the police?
Lady: My dear friend, I wasn't aware of what she was doing. She told me to wear the rag she pinned on me for three days and she said she would be back Saturday or Monday and I would be healed and have good luck!
FATHER: Well, what did you let her have them for?
Lady: How I came to have confidence in her, she broke this egg and told me to put my foot on it; the first egg I gave her slipped out of her hand and the second egg she broke, she told me to burn the shell up; and told me to give her all my wearing apparel. I didn't think she was a gypsy so much, but I thought she was a good spirit. And she said all the neighbors were jealous of me, of my clothes and my hair and things, and she asked me how much money I had and I told her I had two ten dollar bills and she said, "You know I am a spiritualist and I am telling you the truth," and she asked me for a piece of newspaper, and I wasn't wise to her and went to get it, and when I came back she had gone through all my things and she asked me for a piece of rag and I gave it to her and she was supposed to have put the money in it and she pinned it to me and said all my sickness was there. (She indicates her abdomen). And she asked me to give her all of my wearing apparel and everything I had and said she was going to take these things to the church to make the Novena and burn candles.
FATHER: Well, what did you let her take them for?
Lady: Well, I am there so sick, and I was glad for anyone to help me. And after she said she wanted to make this Novena, I gave them to her.
FATHER: You don't believe in GOD, do you?
Lady: Yes, I do.
FATHER: You believe in GOD?
Lady: Yes, my dear friend, I do believe in GOD.
FATHER: I AM not talking about ME, as a Person, but you don't believe in GOD in any kind of way, do you?
Lady: Yes, I do.
FATHER: Well, then, if you believe in GOD, why then you should pray to GOD in your own way and KNOW that GOD will answer prayer and not some old woman or man or anybody else that is going around trying to get your money! That is the reason I detest anybody going around claiming to heal the people and begging for money. Unless they are licensed physicians, you may know they are fakes and thieves and robbers trying to get your money or your things. Unless they are legal licensed physicians sent out by the authorities, you may know they are thieves and robbers and I detest such as that! And that is the reason I do not accept of any donations, love offerings or anything of that sort and will not receive any remuneration or anything of that sort for MY Spiritual Work and Service! That is why I can heal you, if you have the faith in ME, and it doesn't cost you anything. And if anyone claims to heal you and asks for money, you may know they are thieves and robbers because GOD IS A FREE GIFT TO THE WORLD, for
GOD so loved the world, HE gave His Son!
I don't care how many teachers or preachers or prophets there are that claim to be healers, if they want to charge for healing you, you may KNOW they are thieves and robbers and false and untrue! But if they claim to do something for you without cost and without price, you may know they are of GOD if they are sincere and calling on the Name of GOD the True and the Living GOD!
Now, of course it is true, MY following, they recognize My Deity and they get results! But whether you would know ME as GOD or not, if you Know GOD, even say metaphysically, superstitiously and as a mythological spirit or mystical spirit just permeating the universe, if you call on GOD from that viewpoint and have substantiated faith and unshakeable confidence, no doubt you could get a blessing! But it provokes ME when I see the crooks and thieves and robbers going around undermining the people out of their life's earnings under false pretense.
Lady: FATHER, they come to me under the guise of religion and the Bible says you don't know who GOD'S ministers are. That is why I put confidence in them.
FATHER: The Bible says, come and buy wine and milk without price and without money! You should know GOD so loved the world that HE gave His only begotten Son!
Lady: I know that, but she said she was going to the church and make the Novena. You know people have great confidence in that! And she said she was going to church to light the candles!
FATHER: Well, the candles wouldn't heal you! The candles won't do the work! No such foolishness as that will heal you! It takes GOD Alone, Unadulterated to heal you!
Lady: Well, FATHER, will YOU see that she will bring those things back?
FATHER: I won't promise you, because you let her have them. I promise you if you live according to My Teaching, you will not miss them! I promise you that I will lift you above the thought of lacks, wants and limitations and adverse and undesirable conditions, for Christ is RICH and ALL you need! And your FATHER, if you are serving the True and Living GOD, "is rich in houses and land; HE holdeth the wealth of the world in His Hands!" Whether you know Who I AM Personally, it is the Same One and Only True and Living GOD in Bodily Form!
I just preached that a little while ago how GOD as Spirit and Spirit Alone, in the beginning of the creation, moved out on the face of the water and began His One Eternal Creation of all creation and was invisible but spoke into visibility the earth and all things that are in it! They became visible as GOD made them visible; but HE did not do it for money, neither for price!
And so I want to say to you, if you have faith and live the Life and make up your mind to stop this foolishness of these voodooers and hypnotists and mesmerists and conjurers and all of those things, thinking they can do you some good, you will get well and be healthy and happy.
Lady: FATHER, I have been sick so long and everybody has turned against me; my friends all turned against me and my relatives don't want me and my husband don't want me, or neighbors or anybody!
FATHER: The Bible says:
'Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth;'
therefore, you should not make unto yourself any mortal material image to try
to replace GOD in your consideration.
Lady: I don't.
FATHER: I know, but you were doing it then! You were trusting her instead of trusting GOD!
Lady: I was so sick; I have been so sick for so many years.
FATHER: I AM ashamed, if I could be ashamed of you, to be a believer in GOD, even though you don't know ME Personally, to be one of My children; even though you don't know ME Personally you are one of My followers called one of My unconscious children not conscious of ME; but anyway, if I could be, I would be ashamed of you having so much faith and belief in GOD and yet not having enough faith to believe that GOD can and will take care of you without any thieves and superstitious people to make you more superstitious than you have been!
Lady: Well, FATHER, I get weak when I have nobody to talk to. Nobody wants me. I am like a disease. People just look at my face and they don't want to be around me. (The lady has a beautiful complexion and looks the picture of health).
FATHER: You look well. You don't look diseased to ME. You look very healthy. The Bible says:
'Call on ME in the day of trouble and I will deliver you.'
Lady: That is the only way I have been able to keep my strength.
FATHER: Well, you have been turned around, calling on some fortune teller!
Lady: You see, a person has to have someone to talk to, to get their strength. I have the strength in myself by the story of Job. So she took all my things and she left me with this one waist I have on, and this didn't appeal to her, so she left me this one waist.
FATHER: What did she have, a car or something to pick them up?
Lady: No, she took my shopping bag. I had a shopping bag. YOU see, the thing of it is, I am so tired of these c- - - - - people coming to me and they don't mean me no good; and I thought if she, this woman would bring my things back, I could give them away to some family that could use them, so that she wouldn't have them. It is not just simple c - - - - - people that believe in superstition.
FATHER: There are lots of people that are superstitious and believe in voodooism, hypnotism and black magic and all such as that.
Lady: FATHER, I believe GOD can do all things in due time when HE is ready.
FATHER: The Bible says, "In My Name you shall cast out (you know what)," and I am trying to cast those things out of you now, out of your mind. That is what I AM trying to do!
Lady: They tell me to do this and they tell me to do that, those thoughts. YOU see, I don't like the house I am living in.
FATHER: Where do you live? (Lady gives FATHER her address). The place seems like a prison to me. I would rather move out and leave the whole thing.
FATHER: Well, you are not so awfully far from one of our churches.
Lady: I heard about it this morning.
FATHER: Well, you should have been at one of our churches and heard the Message this morning. It was wonderful! But you don't have to come to ME or nobody else! GOD is present everywhere!
Lady: I know HE is. I don't know why GOD takes so long to give me a little ray of hope!
FATHER: I am giving you a little ray of hope, now, to show you, you can be blessed without contacting ME Personally! I have told My followers to transcend all personality and all individuality and even transcend My Personality and My Individuality and believe in GOD Impersonally and Un-Individually as an ever-present and omnipresent Spirit and Mind that permeates and penetrates the Universe! And if you believe like that, all of those dark clouds will go! It is wonderful!
Lady: FATHER, what's the matter with my face? When people look at me it just seems like it stirs up something that they just dislike and they turn against me!
FATHER: Well, I AM trying to like you!
Lady: YOU might understand, but everybody else treats me like I am some kind of disease!
FATHER: Well, you shouldn't pay any attention to what others say.
Lady: Well, FATHER, may I ask YOU another question? Owing to the fact that she defrauded these things out of me through the pretense of religion, if You would see that she brings them back, I would give them to some needy person that might need them.
FATHER: I AM not promising you that.
Lady: I wouldn't keep them, YOU see.
FATHER: Well, don't you need them?
Lady: Well, she tricked me out of them.
FATHER: She got all your money, didn't she?
Lady: Yes, and she got all the material and my waists and dresses and things.
FATHER: :You didn't need them?
Lady: I don't want her to have them because she tricked me out of them through the pretense of religion.
FATHER: What good would it be for you to get them back if you don't need them if you would let some other religious person trick you out of them? You would be ready to turn them over to somebody else!
Lady: No, FATHER.
FATHER: If they come back to you, you keep them and wear them yourself.
Lady: Yes.
FATHER: I won't let them come back so you can give them to somebody else!
Lady: Well If YOU feel I should have them back I do need them I guess.
FATHER: Well, if you need them...
Lady: Yes, I do need them.
FATHER: If you get something else that is just as good, you shouldn't be able to miss that which she has taken, because there is nothing lost in the great Universal MIND SUBSTANCE! It is wonderful!
Lady: What about my health, FATHER?
FATHER: If you have lost your health, your health can be found too, if you trust ME implicitly. I AM not talking about trusting ME as a Person, but recognize My Ever Presence, and My Spirit and My Deity and My Blessings will be with you!
Lady: Thank YOU, and I will come back again.
FATHER: You don't have to come if you don't want to, but just go right on...You belong to the Baptist Church, don't you?
Lady: Yes, but I want to join YOURS something else.
FATHER: Well, you go back to your church and sing and praise and love GOD, and if you never see ME again, if you worship the GOD that converted your soul, it is the Same Spirit! It is ME anyhow!
Lady: FATHER, in these other churches they don't speak to you and they are so cold, and the people here smile at you and treat you like a sister.
FATHER: Well, you are welcome to come to our churches if you wish to, but to be blessed, you can be blessed wheresoever you are if you live right. I thank you.
Lady: Thank YOU. Peace.
FATHER: Peace, and many blessings.
