MOTHER DIVINE Said about the Nation's Day of Thanks:
The early settlers that came to this country gathered together at harvest time and prepared a meal and especially gave thanks to GOD for blessing them with an abundant harvest that would see them through the winter.
It had become a practice in this country to continue to do that until our Government officially made a Proclamation every year that a day would be set aside to especially give thanks to GOD for all of our blessings. It has become an American tradition, and it is not only a wonderful blessing but truly significant that our Government recognizes GOD and sets aside a special time for everyone in this country to give thanks to GOD. We, as a Christian nation, are leading the world by honoring this tradition.
This evening we are gathered here for this particular purpose. This is our religious Service, commemorating or solemnizing this day of thanksgiving to GOD for our limitless blessings. It is truly a sacred occasion; it is something that touches the heart of each and every one of us, that we have this opportunity to thank GOD for our abundant blessings.
I Am happy to be here in the Presence of FATHER DIVINE. I Am happy that we
all can sit down at His Table and be served as abundantly as we expect to be
served, for it is a tradition with FATHER DIVINE to serve abundantly. Not only
on this day that is set aside as our national day of Thanksgiving, but every
day where FATHER'S Banquet Table is spread, HE serves
abundantly. Truly, FATHER
DIVINE has taught us to give thanks and give praise every day, and HE has taught
us the great significance and the great mystery in giving thanks and giving
praise.
So we will continue the Service and all of us will have an opportunity to sing from our hearts these wonderful songs that give voice and expression to our thanksgiving. Those of you who are strangers in our midst, you may sing as sincerely as any of us who are followers of FATHER DIVINE, because there is only ONE GOD and you can be addressing your thoughts to your GOD as you see HIM to be, so that in the Unity of the Spirit we will give praise and give thanks. Before we start I'd like you all to stand as we sing: Praise GOD From Whom ALL Blessings Flow.'"
